Introducing the Decarbonise Tyninghame Team.
A subgroup of the Tyninghame Village Hall & Community Committee applied to CARES: Scottish Government’s Community and Renewable Energy Scheme to learn how our community and groups of householders can work together to make buildings in Tyninghame Village more environmentally friendly to heat. The programme will support a community led approach to decarbonise heat.
The Subgroup is made up of villagers with a wish to seek out possibilities for decarbonising the village.
Our team currently consists of Sophie, Ian and Danny, who also sit on the Tyninghame Village Hall and Community Committee, alongside pro-active villagers Nigel and Andrew.
The Community Heat Development Programme was launched by Local Energy Scotland to work with eligible community organisations and groups of householders, to help develop their ideas for locally-generated, low and zero carbon heat project ideas.
The Story So Far!
December 2024:
A Feasibility Study was Carried out
A survey of the various village heating systems was carried out. We visitied 26 properties and some information gained from these properties are below.
47% were Two Story properties, 8% were 1.5 Story and 36% were Bungalows providing a good mix.
10 Different Heating systems were identified, including Heat Pumps, Fires, Gas and Agas.
A technical consultant then visited the village to undertake a feasibility study and options appraisal.
The completed Feasability study has been carried recieved. With this in hand, we can now fully inform the community on what has been assessed as feasible and find out any properties/homeowners that are interested in going forward to find a way to Decarbonise Tyninghame as a Community!
We hope that at least 70% of the village would be open to conversations on implementing the potential technology in their homes.
