Weddings at Tyninghame

Tucked away in the beautiful East Lothian countryside, Tyninghame Village Hall is a unique and charming venue for an intimate and unforgettable wedding day.

FAQs

  • Can we bring our own food/drink?
    • Absolutely! We have a fully equipped Kitchen, Large Catering Fridge, Chest Freezer, Catering Dishwasher all included in the hall hire costs. We do not have an alcohol license. We can also provide information for local Catering companies.
  • Can we serve Alcohol at our wedding?
    • Yes, you’re welcome to serve alcohol at your event. However, please note that Tyninghame Village Hall does not have an alcohol licence, so you’re not permitted to sell alcohol unless you obtain a Temporary Event Notice (TEN) from East Lothian council. Alcohol can be brought in and consumed by guests without a licence, as long as it’s not being sold.
  • What time can we access the hall?
    • Depending on your booking, we will arrange an entry time that works for you.
  • Is there accommodation nearby?
    • Yes, there are a variety of accommodation options nearby, including charming B&Bs, self-catering cottages, and hotels in nearby villages and towns such as East Linton, Dunbar, and North Berwick. We’re happy to provide a list of local options to help your guests find the perfect place to stay.
  • Are dogs allowed?
    • Yes, well-behaved dogs are welcome in the Hall, but not in the kitchen. To ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable time, we ask that:
      • Dogs remain under the control of their owner (or a responsible person) at all times.
      • Any dog showing aggressive behaviour is removed from the Hall immediately.
      • Dogs are house-trained, and any accidents are cleaned up and disinfected promptly.
      • No other animals (including birds) are permitted unless agreed in advance as part of a special event.
      • No animals of any kind are allowed in the kitchen at any time.
  • Can we rearrange or decorate the Hall as we like?
    • Absolutely! The Hall is a blank canvas for you to make your own. You’re welcome to arrange the space, add decorations, and create the perfect setting for your celebration. We just ask that no damage is done to the building.
  • Is there enough parking for guests?
    • Parking in the village is very limited and is on-street only. We recommend encouraging guests to car share, use taxis, or take public transport where possible to help keep things running smoothly and avoid congestion in the village.
  • Is there a curfew or noise limit in the evening?
    • Yes, the Hall must be vacated by 10pm on weekdays and 11pm on weekends. As we’re located in the heart of the village, we kindly ask that you keep noise to a respectful level – especially when leaving late in the evening – to ensure we remain good neighbours.
  • Can we leave items overnight and collect them at a later date?
    • With our Special Occasions hire, there is an option to leave decorations and equipment overnight and collect them at a mutually agreed convenient time arranged between you and the Hall management. Please note that the Hall cannot accept liability for any breakages, damages, or loss of items left on the premises.
  • What are the transport options for guests without cars?
    • Please check out our Getting to the Village page for detailed information on public transport, taxis, and other travel options to help your guests get here easily.
